Getting Low (Country) On a Friday Night

Friday during work I was craving a decadent dessert--not Ben & Jerry's or candy, but a real, filling sugar high. I looked up different dessert ideas and heard deep fried Oreos calling my name. Luckily, I found a place about 20 minute walk from my apartment. I grabbed Jake and headed out. What I was about to discover is a little culture gem on the edge of Lakeview and Wrigleyville.

Low Country is a quaint little Louisiana cuisine restaurant tucked in the neighborhood. It not only has deep fried Oreos, but powdered sugar-covered beignets. We focused on dessert, but the joint had incredible (-ly strong) drinks. I tried the margarita (pictured) and Jake had an Oktoberfest beer. It also was full of lobster, crawfish and crab that comes in buckets for the whole table.

We are definitely planning to head back for a full meal soon but wanted to share in case anyone is craving a deep fried Oreo. No, just me? Okay.
