Career Champion: Kylie Katich

If you’ve been on Instagram in the past year you’ve most likely come across a Kylie Katich photo. Her creativity is unparalleled, and her genuine nature makes her feel more like a best friend than an influencer. She kindly gave us some of her time to share more about her journey as a content creator. Let’s get to know Kylie!

1) You are a major player in the Instagram game nowadays. You're known for having wildly creative and innovative posts. How do you find inspiration for your photos? 

It comes to me randomly! Sometimes it won’t hit me until I’m in front of the lens, other times I’ll be doing something as simple as grocery shopping and an idea will hit me. I keep a running log of notes on my phone where I write down anything and everything that comes to mind! 

2) How did you get into influencing? What were you doing beforehand? 

Before influencing, I taught special education to high school students. 

But I always knew in my heart there’s nothing I love more than creating and challenging myself to think outside the box. My first love has always been photography. I love capturing movement, light and unique perspectives. This snowballed into my influencing career when I realized how much fun I had pushing boundaries in front of the lens as well.

3) You're known for sharing test shots of your husband - how active is he in your business? What is your advice for working together? 

Alex is very active in my business! I could NOT do it without him. He is my sounding board for every idea, frustration, inspiration and everything in between. I shoot with Alex every weekend! As of lately, I’ve also been shooting with a Videographer (Aubrie Mooso). Alex does work outside of my business so having time with Aubrie allows me to have more free time with Alex. It’s all about balance! 

4) What is one of the biggest lessons you've learned in your career? 

The quickest way to fail is to try to be like someone else. 

5) What is your dream shot or brand to work with? 

CANON! Or SkinnyPop popcorn lol.

6) Any advice to young women out there looking to get into photography/influencing? 

DO IT!!! It’s hard work but if you want to push yourself creatively, you can absolutely do it. There is so much room in this industry! 

7) Where do you see yourself in the next few years? What's your big aspiration? 

TRAVELING, EDUCATING AND VLOGGING! Get ready to see the world with me- I hope I can inspire you to create the life you love. 

8) Go back to college graduation: what would you tell yourself?

I’m so glad my parents aren’t making me walk.... so boring... I’ll take pictures of myself instead. 

.... still so relevant.
