2018 Reflections + 2019 Goals
Here we are - New Year’s Eve. Another year here and gone. I can’t say 2018 was the best year, but it was not the worst. I learned a lot, I grew a lot, I changed a lot and ultimately, I found who I am.
This year started out differently than previous years. It was my first “adult” New Years. Honestly, nothing changed between December 31, 2017 and most of 2018. It all just felt the same. This isn’t necessarily bad, but I wasn’t excited for anything. Everything this year just moved like normal. There was no big life change, which I had experienced pretty much every year for my life up until this point. So my brain decided to make some changes. I drastically changed my eating habits, which I loved. I started changing my passions and my personality a bit. I didn’t love that. Sitting here at the end of 2018, I’m thinking about who I am and the person I want to be. Honestly, I liked the person from 2017 or early 2018, before all the change. I do believe change is important and can be good, but I think for me, I was already the person I wanted to be. This year proved that. This year showed me that I didn’t need to change, I just needed to be me. And that’s okay. I feel like we live in a culture that glorifies change. Again, it’s good and important. But at a certain point, you are okay and allowed to become the person you want to be and to stop changing. You can fully be that person. You can grow. You can learn, but you don’t have to change. That’s the biggest lesson I learned this year.
Some other highlights of 2018:

Like I said, not a bad year. Just mentally challenging. Now that I’m settled with who I am and who I want to be, my goal for 2019 is to grow within that. I want to own who I am. I want to strengthen my voice. I want to really become who I am. With that, I still want to learn and grow. So I’ve made a few little goals for myself.
Read a book every month
Not just my phone or a magazine, but an actual book.
Make a new recipe every month
I get into a routine and make the same thing all the time, especially with healthy food. I want to venture out and maybe even try meatless mondays and more plant-based meals.
Watch a documentary every month
I love learning and I love learning through this format. There’s so many on Netflix I want to see so I just need to do it.
Practice French every week
I used to be fluent in French and I really want to get back to that.
Aside from those goals, I want to continue my healthy lifestyle, which includes healthy eating as much as possible (with occasional pizza), 5 strength training days and 2-3 cardio sessions. I also want to deepen my yoga practice and regularly mediate (doing a January meditation challenge!). Additionally, I want to dedicate more time to this blog, growing this community and getting to know you. I have a few other personal goals that I don’t feel comfortable sharing yet.
Also coming up in 2019 is my wedding! Woohoo, it’s finally almost here and I’m finally getting excited for it. I haven’t had the best wedding planning experience but now that it’s 124 days away the butterflies are kicking in! More updates to come…
Happy New Year pups! I’m so thankful for you + the incredible year we’ve had together.
Have a healthy + happy 2019.
Xoxo,
Cami
